Walex Accepts Export Achievement Award

Company Recognized for Success in International Markets Group

WILMINGTON, NC - Walex Products Company, a specialty chemical products manufacturer based in Wilmington, North Carolina, has been honored with the U.S. Department of Commerce's Export Achievement Award. The Export Achievement Award recognizes U.S. businesses that achieve competitive success in international markets. U.S. Congressman Mike McIntyre presented the award in a Sept. 1 ceremony held at the Walex manufacturing facility in Leland, North Carolina. Accepting on behalf of Walex were company president Bill Williams and chief executive officer Bob Williams.

Walex's products for commercial and consumer waste treatment have expanded as market leaders into over 30 countries throughout the world, with applications in construction, recreation, emergency response, military operations, commercial transportation and other industries. The company manufactures goods that are critically important to the stabilization of emerging countries as part of infrastructure development. Walex has offices in Beijing, China and Sao Paulo, Brazil.

"Our products are needed to maintain the health and safety of living and work conditions of people all over the globe, and are needed to treat waste and protect the environment," Bill Williams said. "The products that are made with pride from this factory in North Carolina have been used all over the world: in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the Olympics in Beijing, Carnaval in Brazil, RVs in New Zealand, buses in Mexico, portable toilets at construction sites in Germany, high-rise office buildings in Hong Kong, merchant ships in Spain, movie sets in Canada, coffee fields in Colombia, World Cup soccer matches, and will be used in the Panama Canal expansion project."

In his remarks upon accepting the Export Achievement Award, Williams expressed his gratitude toward International Trade Specialist Phil Minard and his staff at the U.S. Commercial Service for their assistance in increasing Walex's international business. He also cited the hard work and dedication of the company's employees in manufacturing, research and development, administration and sales and marketing for earning Walex this level of recognition in the global marketplace
