What's open and closed in Napa and Sonoma

Now that the Napa and Sonoma wildfires have been contained, wineries and businesses in the region are working to get the word out that the majority of them are open and welcoming visitors back to the region.

Of the more than 400 wineries in Napa Valley, only Signorello on the Silverado Trail remains closed as a result of fire damage, according to Visit Napa Valley. All the Napa wineries that were closed in the days following the outbreak of the fires -- electricity in many cases was out, roads were closed and many employees could not get to work -- have reopened, according to Visit Napa Valley. That includes some of the region's most famous wineries, such as Robert Mondavi, Beringer, Sterling and Domaine Chandon.

Calistoga Ranch, an Auberge Resort, said in a statement this week that Napa's tasting rooms are pouring, restaurants are cooking and the fall colors are changing. "This is an ideal time to experience wine country, and your visit to Napa will help the community rebound," the resort stated. To encourage that visit, it is offering a complimentary night at the property. (Click here for an enlarged PDF option of the map at right.)

Sonoma County Tourism has said that all business are open in the western and coastal parts of the county, which include popular destinations such as Sebastopol, Guerneville and Bodega Bay; in southern Sonoma County, which includes Petaluma; and northern Sonoma County, including Healdsburg and Geyserville. Popular Sonoma destinations such as the Russian River Valley, Francis Ford Coppola Winery and Korbel are all intact.

Businesses in Sonoma that remain closed for the foreseeable future due to the fires are the Hilton Sonoma Wine Country, Fountaingrove Inn, America's Best Value Inn & Suites, Paradise Ridge Winery (but it is operating from a second location, a tasting room in Kenwood), Sweet T's Restaurant and Willi's Wine Bar.
