Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts signed a new property in Ho Chi Minh City as part of the Swiss hospitality company's expansion across Vietnam.
The new-build Mövenpick Hotel Ho Chi Minh City will have 288 guestrooms and 527 serviced apartments. The hotel opening in 2020 will be part of the Kenton Node Hotel Complex mixed-use development, which is currently being constructed on the Rach Dia river bank near downtown Ho Chi Minh City. The surrounding 21-acre Kenton Node complex will have retail malls, restaurants, a multiplex cinema, other leisure facilities, office space, residential units, a marina, riverside promenade and parks.
“With its versatile collection of hotel rooms, residences and world-class facilities, Mövenpick Hotel Ho Chi Minh City will cater to a wide variety of customer profiles in both the short, and extended/long stay segments,’” Andrew Langdon, CDO for Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts, said in a statement.
The signing of Mövenpick Hotel Ho Chi Minh City is also part of Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts' expansion in Vietnam. The company currently has a hotel in the capital city Hanoi and a resort in Cam Ranh, which opened in January 2018. However, over the next few years, Mövenpick will open a series of new hotels and resorts in key destinations across the country, including Cam Ranh, Phu Quoc, Quy Nhon, Quang Binh, Danang and Lang Co. The 148-room Mövenpick Resort Lang Co is slated to open in the fourth quarter of 2018.
Mövenpick, which was acquired by AccorHotels Group in late April 2018, is on track to have eight properties with more than 3,000 guestrooms open by 2020. The company also plans to have 30 properties open in Asia and 125 globally by 2020.
