After a fire killed 17 people at the poorly constructed Arpit Palace Hotel in the Karol Bagh neighborhood, Delhi officials are starting a fire audit at 380 hotels in the Delhi area to check for safety compliance at hotels of five floors or more, NDTV reports.
"Based on the directives of the state government, we have formed six teams to carry out inspections in hotels and guest houses across Karol Bagh area. We have already begun the inspection," Atul Kumar Garg, chief fire officer, told the news outlet.
Action will be taken against hotels that do not have the proper equipment to fight fires, NDTV reports.
