Design, tech lift hotel elevator efficiency

Hotels have started installing elevators with customizable design options and better technology to improve operations and the guest experience, HNN’s Dana Miller reports, but hoteliers are saying installation issues are a bit of a downer. There’s not much that can be added to an elevator without changing its weight and balance, said Aliya Khan, VP of global design strategies for Marriott International, but there are simple ways to customize how elevators look and feel. “For us it’s really about finding these quick humorous things, whether it’s the color of the light (inside the elevator) or application of an image to create a little bit of a mood that makes it more unique,” she said.
